Bookish Things

Simply from being a mom who believes in the power of a good story, I have read A LOT of children's books. My son is ten, and we've probably gotten about five books from the library every week his entire life, so that in itself has got to equal... well A LOT. (I'm an English teacher, not a Math teacher.)

Besides being a mom, I was also a youth librarian, one of my favorite jobs to date, and that really added on to my children's book quota. As a junior high and high school English teacher, I learned which higher level yet still youth novels appeal to the growing audience. And since my degree is in English Literature, it's probably safe to say that I've read a number of books.

Here, I share some of my son and I's recommendations, as well as a few adult musings.
