8 Witchy Ways to Celebrate Mabon (or the 2025 Fall Equinox)

Mabon is celebrated on the Fall Equinox. It is the first day of fall, and the day and night are split evenly. This year, it’s on September 22, 2025. The holiday is traditionally celebrated with a large feast to show gratitude for the harvest. (Sounds a lot like Thanksgiving, huh?) But with anything witchy, it’s important to do it in your own way.

Mabon is perfect for reflecting on balance (day and night) and change (from summer to fall). Even better, this year it coincides with a New Moon, which is a time for manifesting and embracing darkness or the unknown. The themes of Mabon and a New Moon overlap, leaving a lot of room for witchy energy this year.

Here are 8 witchy ways to celebrate Mabon (or the Fall Equinox) on the New Moon this year.

1) Throw a 25th Anniversary Gilmore Girls watch party with Pop-Tarts and coffee.

2) Take time for a gratitude meditation.

3) Write down everything you’re ready to let go of… and burn it.

4) Cast an apple protection spell of your choice over the ashes.

5) Bake something with pumpkin for your celebratory Mabon dinner.

6) Have a feast for dinner in honor of the harvesting season.

7) Reflect on what you want to manifest this fall and winter.

8) Halloween costumes were born out of the Irish tradition of wearing disguises to fool evil spirits; think about who you would like to blend in as on this Samhain (Halloween).

Enjoy and edit this Mabon/Equinox bucket list for your own witchy practice.
